This is a truly great place to enjoy a cigar and some good company. Small lounge with very comfortable seating and a large flat screen TV. BYOB and private lockers available as well.
The prices are very affordable and recent arrivals make the selection very good no matter what price range you’re looking for.
This place has become our new hangout and seems like it should be ready to expand soon. Hopefully the small lounge atmosphere will always stay the same. Current location is very close to all in downtown Walnut Creek on Locust.
@Jack Grant, Jack, please explain your ratings for this cigar lounge. I have been there and the selection is no more than 20 different cigars. You have to crawl over people in the lounge just to get to the humidor and it only seats 5.
@Rich Brandon,
Rich,
Sorry you had an experience you didn’t care for. The place is small, no denying that. Some people enjoy that part, but the problem is when more than six are there. There are six comfortable lounge chairs, so unless you’re that Director who had to pay for two Southwest Airlines seats, the place can seat six without a problem (not five).
As for walking over people, the only time that’s happened when I was there was when there were 11 people there to watch a Sunday Night Football game. Between the lounge chairs, foot stools and a folding chair there was only one person left standing.
Since it is a small operation, the selection can run low at times, but you can find as many as 40 different cigar choices in the walk-in humidor. Just depends on when inventory was delivered.
I’ve always been able to special-order any box I wanted and have had it there in 1-2 business days.
Those of us who frequent the place love it, so hopefully you’ll give it another shot in the future.
As someone who frequents the shop regularly, I can tell you that the ratings are well-deserved. Although the cigar selection is not always extensive, I can tell you that the owner has excellent skill at picking high-quality cigars that are reasonably priced. I have not yet purchased a single cigar from O’sullivan’s that I was not happy with, and I like to try everything.
(You need to remember that the lounge is very new, and replaced the previous tobacco store in that location, and I can tell you that you would have wanted to see what it was lick before the ownership change.)
At O’Sullivan’s, the focus is on providing a relaxing, fun atmosphere, and a place where you can enjoy a cigar, watch a movie, bring along your favorite beverage, and relax. It is only very rare occasions when someone is unable to find themselves a nice leather seat.
The owners are actively looking to expand the lounge into a larger facility, which I am sure will be even better. But I happen to enjoy the cozy atmosphere and the camaraderie, personally.
Ome thing to note: while you are, of course, encouraged to purchase a cigar and enjoy it in the lounge, you are free to bring along your own sticks, or even your pipe, and smoke it there as well, with no hassle. I know that there are almost no tobacco retailers out there that will allow you to do this.
My experience at O’Sullivan’s has always been very pleasant and I’d recommend the place to anyone.
I’ve seen the inventory ebb and flow over the months, as well. But, there is always a choice of top-notch and value sticks to enjoy.
I’ll share an experience what really bothers me. There’s another lounge nearby, not in downtown Walnut Creek, that is bigger and more expensive. Sadly, the people working at that establishment, including some of their regulars, make disparaging comments about O’Sullivan’s. I took their comments at face value, considering the source.
What made me question the integrity of everyone at the place was the offer of a free cigar, from them to me, for a favorable review of their place and a less than favorable review for O’Sullivan’s. Not very cool in my book.
